This included a visit to the port by the Tall Ships. Items in this collection include: the summer 1980 issue of Sea History; a 1980 issue of Op Sail News; a first day cover for the event; two commemorative patches; a sticker; 6 postcards depicting tall ships; a small bookmark type piece; and a flier and brochure about the event. All in VERY GOOD or better condition, with little to no wear. Very Good .

A survey and history of various sailing vessels, including privateers, merchant sloops, cargo schooners, sailing vessels of the Great Lakes, yachts and yachtsmen, etc. With short but detailed descriptions of individual ships and their captains, as well as photos and illustrations of many ships. Written by B.B. Crowninshield, a shipbuilder based in Somerset, Massachusetts. Book in GOOD+ condition. Heavy browning to the jacket. Some foxing and minor soiling to the cloth covers. Moderate foxing to the endpapers. Box in FAIR condition, being heavily scuffed and worn, with three of the corner split. Small piece of tape at one corner. Good .

Most a single sheet, folded into four pages, with one being a single sheet, printed on one side only. All in about VERY GOOD or better condition, with minor fading, soiling and a few creases. This includes a menu from the MS Astor on a transatlantic cruise from October 29, 1982; R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth dinner from June 25, 1947 (minor soiling with a crease at the upper corner); Queen Elizabeth 2 January 31st 1983; Royal Viking Star September 17, 1978; A Holland-America Line Assembly Dinner menu from April 3rd, 1969 (moderate browning); S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam April 3rd, 1969 (scattered small stains in the interior); S.S. Maasdam January 5, 1966 (single side sheet); five from the T.S. Bremen, from April 4, two different menus from April 6, April 7, and April 8, 1971 (several with insert menu as well, two without). Several duplicates and blank menus (illustrated covers only) also included in this lot. Very Good .

S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam Ship Menus. Lot of 6
No Place, Holland-America Line, Publisher, 1969. Unbound. Single sheets, thin card stock. 8 by 13 ¼ inches. Printed on single sides only. Two duplicates and one a variation. Menus list breakfasts and luncheons, with color illustrated banners across the top quarter. Includes two luncheon menus for April 4, 1969; two breakfast menus for April 9, these with different illustrations at the top; breakfast for April 11, 1969; and luncheon for April 13, 1969. The S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam was built in 1937, using state of the art technologies and incorporating lavish Art Deco themes in its designs. Although not built with any military capacity, the ship was used to transport troops during World War II. After declining use, it was decommissioned in 1974. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning, with some offsetting to the reverse of several. Some scuffing and curling along the extremities. Very Good .

Three illustrations of donkeys across the top. Text in German and English. A breakfast menu to be served aboard the S.S. Bremen on August 9th, 1937. The S.S. Bremen was built in 1928 and noted for its advanced designs. It was used as a barracks ship by Nazi Germany at the beginning of World War II, before being burned by a crewmember in 1941. GOOD condition. Minor curling, creasing, soiling and toning. A hint of foxing. Remnants of a green wood strip on the rear. Good .
